Options for Animals was “born” to serve the great need for help that so many animal lovers have when facing cancer.   Because we have battled cancer and chronic illness with one or more of our own pets, we know it’s a difficult time emotionally and made even worse because we aren’t usually given many options to treat or help the animal or ourselves during the ordeal.

The hardest part of battling the dis-ease is trying to research and find things that will help or even cure our beloved pets.  Sometimes it’s nearly impossible to find a supportive vet or know where to turn for support or even how to research the latest treatments that are available.   While we always recommend using a veterinarian you trust, keep in mind that traditional vets may not be well-versed in treatments beyond the traditional surgery-chemo-radiation protocol.   It’s up to you to be the best advocate for your animal and decide what the best treatment option is.  Staying informed on your own can be overwhelming.

There is so much information available today on the internet about cancer cures and treatments.  We have learned that while some treatments can have miraculous results for some animals, there is no miracle cure that works for everyone every time.  We have learned through thousands of cases over the years that treatments need to be tailored to the cancer or illness type and also to the individual animal and person involved.  We have tracked the same kinds of cancers in multiple animals and can often offer a unique perspective, having seen the different responses to a variety of treatments.   

Since we have tracked so many cases and are always in the process of working through new cases, we have compiled a wide variety of treatment options and resources.  We also know how they’ve worked on real animals with specific cancers.   

Most of us dread the word “cancer” or any chronic illness because we fear the worst possible outcome.   At Options for Animals, we know there is HOPE and real possibilities for treatments that can give a great quality of life and sometimes the best outcome of all: full remission – even against the odds.   We’ve learned so much from our experiences and while not all animals go on to live long, healthy lives, a great many do.  Our focus, regardless of length of life is that each animal always has a good quality of life and their human caretaker can spend as much time with them as possible.
